Pictures

To make up for the slew of videos.

Jameson likes to sleep like this. Actually, he normally sleeps with his feet crossed as well, but he squirmed when I came in the room. Nathan sleeps like this too sometimes, so I think it's genetic.

I've been cleaning out Jameson's old clothes to rotate along (Heather, I've got three boxes for you!) and Jameson took advantage of this new arrangement. I left the room for a few minutes, came back and figured he must have crawled down the bathroom. But then I heard him talking, in his room. But where is he?

Oh, there he is!

The boxes of clothes had been under the crib, but now it's his own private cave.

He found a squirt bottle with 9 month old water in it (that's when I gave up using cloth wipes -- the bottle must have fallen down the side of the crib) and was enjoying that. I'm very glad he didn't short our our modem.

He came out to grab the camera, and I blocked off the crib again, since he really likes power cords and the modem has to be right there under the crib and I don't want him hurting himself or pulling the cords out.

And some shots from the pool.

Don't mind Nathan's tan lines. He does wear sunscreen (SPF 70) but he's outside for 40 hours a week!

Swimming!

We took Jameson swimming today. He really liked it once we got into the warm pool rather than the little kiddy pool. He loved being spun around in the water, and slapping at the waves.

After that video you get to see how much Jameson likes to eat. Mr Tilley was teasing him with mozzarella and tomatoes. Such a big mouth!

Standing!

Finally caught it on video! He's been pulling up for a few days now, although this is the first time he's done it on something so high. We're really going to have to watch him now, because he tends to fall, and he could really hurt himself on this tile. He fell in the video, but he turned it into more of a roll, and I got my hand under him, so he didn't hit his head.

I was on the phone with U-Ann when I started the video. We were talking about them possibly moving to Phoenix, and me possibly visiting Colorado this summer.

It's Hot

The temperatures here in Tucson have jumped this week, and our swamp cooler is very very dead. And so it is hot. And that means we're all rather sluggish. And so no pictures.

But Jameson continues to grow and explore. Today we reached a new little milestone. He has been trying for a few weeks to grab the shampoo bottles on the edge of the tub during his baths. Well, today he not only managed to grab one, but in his attempts to get another he stood up in the tub! He wasn't up for long before his feet slipped and he had a nice little fall. But seemed quite proud of himself.

gDiapers

You may notice a few odd things popping up around the blog. I am trying to become an affiliate with gDiapers, and have to prove that I own this site. I had wanted to use these diapers for awhile, and I finally realized that if I buy them online in bulk they are the same price as the Pampers we have been using.

I think this is the best type of diaper out there, even better than cloth for us. The actual diaper part is designed to be flushable, but you can even toss them in the compost. They seem to be working well and holding up to Jameson's scooting. See that green cover under the onsie?

As you can see, he's discovered doors and how to open them. He can't get the hall door all the way open, but if it's open just a little he pushes on it until he can get at those fun squishy toys inside. Maybe he's telling us he's ready to be potty trained?

You may notice a few

Mothers Day!

I completely forgot to post about this weekend. Oops!

On Saturday I went to a tea at the church, so Nathan was in charge of Jameson. They came up to help move the chairs and tables. We had to wait for Adina to show up to open up the church.

What's that Nathan put on the baby?

He's BatMan!

And look, he has a cape! Christopher and Heather bought this outfit in California last summer, and Jameson finally fits in it. We're hoping he'll still fit in it this summer when their little one comes along, so I can make him a toy Robin outfit.

Jameson had fun hanging with the guys.

Saturday night we went to the Fitzsimmons. Christopher read to Jameson.

But Jameson preferred the attentions of the ladies. He crawled around on the glass kitchen table, going around to each of us in turn.

Sunday morning Jameson had a lot of fun at church. During communion he started crawling under the chairs in front of us, which were empty. When he started getting up towards the rows full of people, Nathan held me back so I couldn't go get him. It was fun to see as people glanced down and starting as Jameson went by. Finally one of the Beals picked him up and held him until the end of the service.

Afterwards he played with Aunt Leah.

Then we went to Grandmas, and she fed Jameson lunch.

We went out to dinner that night at Macaroni Grill.

Jameson ate lots of cheerios, and liked playing with the paper on the table.

He also ate a lot of Nathan's rice. Overall he was a good baby and let us have a nice dinner. It was a great mother's day!

Outside

Jameson really likes his swing. He got to swing and watch me yesterday as I put in a new mini patio for the grill.

It took me three days to dig out about 4" of dirt, then one day to do the rest. I put down sand, then started laying the stones.

To get the stones the right size to do the edging, I had to make a lot of noise with the hammer. I was afraid Jameson would be scared, but he just sat on his blanket and and laughed.

Close-up of the stones after washing them down to set the sand. I was surprised that the designs are oriented differently on some stones. These stones were all over the yard when we moved in, but I never looked at them too closely until now.

I left the camera running on Jameson while I worked. He talked to the trees, to the birds, to his hand. He's getting very vocal!

The garden is growing. Look at those tomatoes!

The corn looks like it's about to do something interesting.

And the basil I pinched back is growing like mad. I'm going to steal some more of it for tonight's dinner. I planted some new seeds and should have more basil plants soon!

It's a Beautiful Day

Jameson and I spent some time in the backyard yesterday. He loves being outside: watching the trees, listening to the birds, and hoping the cat comes by to visit.

He crawled around on his big blanket. I tried to keep him covered up because there was a bit of a breeze, but he kept wriggling it off.

The hose was fascinating, since it kept moving as I watered the garden, and it made a little noise.

We played with the camera, and Jameson took another video, mainly of the blanket. He wants another turn with that shiny box thing!

The garden is growing. The corn is 1-2 feet tall, some tomato plants are getting ready to bloom, and the watermelon is starting to look more like a vine.

My one lonely basil plant. Doesn't it look scrumptious? I pinched off a few tops to get it to bush out, and ate the leaves with some fresh bed and good butter. It is so good.

The tree in the backyard is blooming again. Gorgeous!

My Baby the Mechanic

I have a migraine and so the house is dark and quite today. Jameson was scooting around somewhere in the house when we heard a strange sound coming from the kitchen. Like something large, but light, falling.

Nathan went to investigate and found Jameson dragging the grill front from the refrigerator around the kitchen. It had been loose for awhile, but he managed to pull it right off. I took it away and snapped it back on, but he was already off trying to get into my purse. He really just wants to know how things work!

A new set of videos. First, Jameson 'reading' one of his books. Next, he takes off after the cat and she tries to get away without actually going anywhere. And last, Jameson making Mommy laugh. He had finished breakfast and was singing in his high chair. I was laughing silently, and so the camera was shaking. Finally he let out a little burb mid-coo and I just lost it.
