First Haircut!

We are so lucky to have Aunt Cindy -- an award winning hairstylist. She was very eager to do Jameson's first cut, and we finally made it over there today.

We had to wake Jameson up from a nap to get him there, so Nathan gave him a little pre-haircut playing to get him in the mood.

Ooh, the comb feels funny. He kept squirming and laughing at the comb. Of course this makes me realize that I've never actually combed Jameson's hair. Not that it really needs it, but I suppose we should get him a comb.

The first cut.

Jameson spent the first half of the cut just trying to figure out what was going on. He wanted to watch Cindy, but also liked cuddling with Nathan.

Look Maw, no hair in my eyes!

Nathan had to turn him around so Cindy could get the back of his head. More cuddles. I also held him for awhile so he would rest his head down so she could get the very back.

After that he started perking up and wanting to climb around and grab things. Nathan was very good at holding him still so there were no accidents.

Lady, what did you just do to me?

More playing with Dad; we were off to a party right after this, so we had to keep his spirits up. So now he finally has a proper haircut!

And from a few days ago -- look how he can stand up! We find him like this several times a day. He just stands there and talks to his toys, or the wall, whatever, until he gets tired. Then he lets us know he wants help down, or just lets go and falls. Either way there is crying involved!

Flatware is What Makes People Civilized

I fed Jameson off of a plate today instead of off his tray, and he was very confused. Normally, when he feeds himself he scatters the food, grabs handfuls and crams half a dozen pieces in his mouth at a time. But with the chicken in the plate he very slowly picked up one piece at a time. Eventually he realized he could lift the plate up, and that was the end of the civilized eating, but it was great while it lasted.

So here's a video, first of him playing underneath the desk, and then his fine eating skills.

Such a Big Boy

Sorry for the lack of blogging. If you haven't heard, I got a job (deli in a Walmart right next to the house) and between that and Jameson's increasing mobility, computer time is down.

I worked a full shift yesterday, and work the next two nights, so I gave Jameson a bath today so Nathan won't have to worry about it. He is really getting good at pulling up on the tub. Today he also learned how to grab one of his bath toys and drop it over the edge.

Oops, the bath is slippery.

But he can get right back up. He's been sticking his tongue out more and more, especially when he's working hard.

Okay Mom, I'm ready to get out!

He loves being my little cuddle monkey right after the bath.

After the bath dressed him in his room and went back to the bathroom to clean up the tub. Jameson pulled his towel out into the hall, then discovered the open closet. There are a couple videos in here showing what he did. And one video of Jameson eating. I had used the big spoon to dish out his veggies, and he wanted to play with big shiny thing.

A Nice Vacation

We spent the weekend in Flagstaff for Alec's graduation. Jameson was very good most of the time, and had a good time seeing everyone in the family. We rode up with Grandma and Uncle Caleb, who entertained Jameson and got him to go to sleep in the car.

Uncle Jaime has a wonderful hammock/chair on the front patio, and Jameson loved sitting with anyone and everyone in that thing.

Saturday afternoon Nathan put Jameson down for a nap, and ended up taking a nap himself. I think he laid down so he could talk to Jameson through the mesh, then just dozed off, and Jameson followed suit.

After the nap.

Grandma fed Jameson lunch, while the boys schemed in the background. Nathan, Caleb, Alec and William making plans to do something ridiculous. They ended up playing frisbee back and forth, over the house.

Really not interested in the corn. He cried when we insisted.

Getting sleepy. He drained an entire bottle of water, recuperating from the sun.

The new owners of the inn next door have some large birds. Jameson really wanted to grab them, and they really wanted to grab him! We kept him far enough away so he couldn't be bit. They followed us around as we walked around the cage, and the little gray one inside imitated what we said. He even squawked like Jameson once!

I went back to the hotel with Jameson early so he could have a semi-normal night. He crawled all around the hotel room, and saw something under the bed.

It was a nice trip, but we were all glad to be back.

Today we had another first. Jameson was crying in his crib, not wanting to take a nap. I noticed that the cries had changed from "sleepy-but-don't-want-to-sleep" cry to "scared or confused" cry. I figured his leg was stuck in the bars. Normally when I go in to check on him, I have to look over the edge of the crib to see him, but when I opened the door it felt like the entire crib was leaning or too low or something. I could see his face, and it was much to close. What was going on? He was standing up, of course. He was right in the corner by the door, up on one foot and one knee, and just crying. I suppose he doesn't know how to get down! As soon as I put him down on his back, he went right to sleep!
