Independence

I am continually amazed at how fast this little man is growing, and how mobile he is. He still has a mild obsession with power cords, and likes to eat anything he can find on the floor, which is typically cheerios he hid in the folds of his clothes, and cat food. We're working on that.

But the great thing is that he just scoots around to what he wants to play with, and can occupy himself for long chunks of time. Yesterday he knocked the pile of books over, then started pulling things out of his toy chest.

He loves his kitty book, and laughs at all the pictures.

He stayed happy in there for long enough for me to get the kitchen clean. When he go bored, he came out to find me!

We found out from the Halls today that Jameson's little friend arriving in September is going to be a boy. I'm sure they are going to have a lot of fun next summer!

We're Walking

Most of the first month of Jameson's life is a sleep-deprived blur, but one memory I have held on to is how Nathan could calm Jameson down when he was tired but didn't know how to relax. Nathan would lay down and hold Jameson so he was sitting on Nathan's chest. At a few weeks old Nathan still had to hold the little guy up or else he would collapse into a little ball, and Nathan's hands nearly covered Jameson's entire torso.

Then Nathan would slowly bend Jameson back and forth, back and forth, while singing, "We're rocking, we're rocking..." It calmed Jameson down, but it never seemed to work when I tried it.

Well now I get to see a new version. A couple times a day I hear Nathan say "Let's go get her!" and then he sings very softly, "We're walking, we're walking..."

A smart little guy

First we have Jameson playing in his crib after a nap. I was trying to et a video of him turning on his dinosaur to sing, but he knows what's up. After that we see Jameson playing in his jammies, then trying to climb into my lap because he wants the buttons on my jammies!

He sat outside and watched me garden for awhile. He likes the breeze, and I think he was talking back to the birds.

The garden is growing. We have lots of corn, and a few watermelon plants poking through.

And a teeny tiny tomato! Yes, the plant looks pretty sad, but I did water it immediately after taking this shot. The plants get plenty of water, but the heat seems to be wilting the tomatoes anyway.

We went to Bible study at the Bowyers and Jameson got a piggy back ride up to the door.

Spring is Budding All Over

I've got some little seedlings coming up in the garden. Here are a few tiny basil plants (not the dead grass). And after I took this picture I discovered 5 corn plants coming up as well. Yea!

And Jameson has new teeth. The bottom two on the sides are barely poking through. I feel bad that I didn't discover them -- the lady at the daycare at the gym did!

Jameson has really been enjoying our new morning tradition. He eats cheerios and banana while I sweep the entire house.

He is getting very good at picking up each piece.

Breakfast is so good!

Unfortunately, not all of the food gets into his tummy.

A few days ago Jameson discovered the cat door. Jasmine showed him how it works.

He tried to get to it, but the wine rack stumped him. He hasn't shown any interest since then, so I think we're okay.

He likes his wire bead thingie. It makes noise when you shake it.

I Knew He Was Good for Something

Jameson just found my keys for me. I was looking all over the house, but he knew just where to look. He pulled everything out og the diaper bag, and alerted me that he had found them by banging them on the tile and screeching. Good boy.

He didn't want to take a nap this morning, so we hung out in bed just resting for awhile. First you get to see his new quacking sound, then the classic head tossing. He finally went to sleep, and I cleaned out his room. I lowered his crib last night, so we have to do diaper changes on the floor. He liked being a naked baby.

And in case you're curious, I planted the beds.

Woodworking with Grandpa

Grandpa Hazelwood just left town, and boy did we do a lot while he was here. He arrived Tuesday morning and promptly began spoiling Jameson by letting him play with his glasses, something we are really trying to avoid.

We went to a baseball game and watched the Rockies gain a couple hits on, someone else. Jameson was very hot and fussy, so we only stayed for a few innings.

Standing in the back was nice, and Jameson liked the breeze.

Especially because it took that silly hat off his head for him. Grandpa caught it, though.

A long walk back to the car, and then Jameson fell right asleep. He was a very tired baby.

On Wednesday, Grandpa and I started building a couple beds in the backyard, and Jameson got to watch us.

Wednesday was Grandma Warner's birthday, so we went to their house for dinner. The Warner men sat together. Apparently Jameson is learning to show off his muscles.

I see a lot of family resemblance here.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Since Jameson got too hot outside on Wednesday, we keft him inside on Thursday.

But he wanted to come out and play.

I put down a blanket for him in the shade, and he crawled over to where the action was.

Watcha' doing Grandpa?

Back to the blanket, and then under the chair.

Nathan came home just in time to help finish the work, then they all went in to relax. Grandpa is beat, but Jameson still wants to play.

So THAT's where Jameson gets that look.

The finished beds.

And some cute shots from this morning.

Hi Mom!

Could you wipe my nose?

Or maybe I'll wipe it on the camera.

Got it!

8 months

Aunt Cindy's dog is quite fascinating.

Aunt Cindy, not so much. Much rather chew on this police car thing,

Grandma wants to see the new teeth (four on top!)

So happy!

He's getting pretty good at sitting up, even without a high chair. But there were just too many distractions to eat very much.

He's a big boy. He can scoot along very quickly, grab any toy he wants, and feed himself, although you can probably tell that more food is ending up on the floor than in his mouth. Oh well, it's a start.

Unfortunatly, Jameson has a cold and has not been sleeping well. He coughs in the night and it wakes him up. Which means I haven't been sleeping too well either. Is it nap time yet?
