Super Bowl!

Our Cardinals lost the big game, but Jameson enjoyed the game regardless. We went up to the Bowyer's house, where they had set up a projector and screen, and Jameson got to see his second football game. Actually, we only got to watch the first quarter, then it was time to get the little boy to bed.

Walking!

I am very sorry for not posting this earlier, but Jameson and I have been quite sick. But the big news is that on Saturday night Jameson starting walking! I was at a concert, and Nathan was working, so Grandma and Grandpa got his first steps. They said that he just got up and walked after they told him he could go get a banana from the kitchen.

He still likes to crawl, but he's been showing off for us here at home. His balance is quite good, and he's been able to stoop down and stand back up easily. We officially have a toddler!

Trash

One of Jamesons new words a few weeks ago was "trash". He first applied the term to the trash cans at home, then discovered the ones in the park. Then he realized that the things we put in those cans are also called trash. This week he even started picking up little things off the floor and bringing them to me, and telling me it is trash. It's been nice, and a good motivator to keep the floors clean.

But today he went too far. I grilled chicken for dinner, and gave Jameson some green beans and cheese. The cheese disappeared right away, of course, and he ate the chicken, but he refused to touch the green beans.


He's been very stubborn on the vegetable issue of late, so I really pushed him to eat tonight. Every time I put a green bean in his mouth, he would spit it out. And then say "trash". I corrected him, but he was insistent. I think I managed to sneak two beans in, hiding them with a piece of chicken.


He is getting much better with the fork. He prefers to use his hands, and sometimes the fork gets in the way.

Belly Button!

We had some of Nathan friends from high school over for dinner on Sunday night, so I had to take Jameson's chair off the dining room chair so that we could all sit at the table. He thought this was hilarious, and still wanted to sit in his chair.




Jameson had his dinner early, and was ready for bed when they arrived. His tiredness made him very friendly -- I've never seen him have so much fun with strangers.

I've left the chair on the floor the past few days. It's really nice with him being able to climb in on his own. That occupies him for a few minutes while I get his meals ready. This morning he put it back under the table.

Grandma Visits

Grandma came down for a visit, and sent along a few photos. We really tried to get Jameson to walk for her.


But he is a stubborn boy.

Jameson really loves books. He brings us books and climbs up on our laps. He'll also sit and "read" to us as well. He has one book full of pictures of everyday objects, and he likes to show us the new words he knows. This morning he showed me the ki-kat, woowoo, ball, ups (grapes), urgh (orange), na (banana), nose, eye, tee (teeth), shoes, socks, pants and chair.

First Steps!

Today, Sunday January 11, 2009, Jameson finally took his first steps. He's taken single steps on his own before, but today he took three steps together. Maybe by next Sunday he'll be running.
