Jameson had quite a birthday. I made a big cake. We ended up with a lot left over!

Of course Jameson got his own cake.

But before cake, he had to open presents. Other people have lots of pictures of him opening gifts, so if you have those let me know!

And now for cake! We sat him in his chair in just a diaper so he could get all messy, but at first he just poked at the cake.

Aunt Leah tried to show him that the cake was food.

Starting to get it, but distracted by the spoon.

Ooh, food!

We filled up the splash pool in the backyard to clean him up.

He was pretty tired by this point, so he wanted to put his head down.

Cuddling with Grandma all clean!

We went back inside, and Heather gave him one last gift. But he wasn't too thrilled with it. That's okay, I'll take it.

But the bag is fun!

Climbing up Leah.

Relaxing with Dad. Someone gave him a "marshmallow cannon", aka a slingshot. We'll have to hid that.

I purposefully put up the streamers so Jameson could play with them. He liked it!

As I get more pictures from everyone else, I'll post more. Here's a video -- having fun with the cake (the floor was a mess!) and playing with a gift bag.

One!

Exactly one year old, taken at 12:19 PM today:

We took a nice day trip up Mt Lemon to get out of the heat. I sat in the backseat to get sunscreen on Jameson, and he liked me being there. We played peekaboo.

We went up to Rose Canyon Lake. Jameson loved playing with the rocks and leaves. Of course he tried to eat them. Jameson and I sat up in the shade for awhile, but the chipmunks assumed we had food. They were getting a little close for comfort, so we went down with Nathan.

He was fishing.

And he caught one!

Jameson was quite perplexed.

But it grew on him.

He wanted that fish so bad! Unfortunately he fell asleep almost as soon we got home, so he didn't get any fish.

Playing with daddy right before we left.

So Much Cuteness!

Jameson is loving the new toys his cousins gave to him. When he really loves one, he makes sure he shows it with a little cuddle.

He doesn't spend any time in his bouncer any more, but he spends lots of time under it. We corral all his toys under there, and it's a great playground.

A few days ago I got home from work and found Jameson and Nathan in the baby's bedroom. I took a shower, and when I got out I heard Jameson talking very loudly to himself and banging on the door. He was going through the trash and dirty clothes just inside the door.

And this is what I found on the bed.

Look what I did, Mommy! Nathan says he has a vague memory of Jameson crawling on him, but doesn't remember being "crowned"

A photo shoot from yesterday.

I think he should model for BabyGap, don't you?

A Small Milestone

Jameson has been sick this week. His fever is gone, but he still is very fussy and likes to spend a lot of time cuddling. And so we've spent a lot of time reading.

There is one book we hadn't looked at in awhile, of the "Pat the Bunny" type. You know, fake fur on the dog, fake leather for the pig, even some tulle for butterfly wings. I used to try to get Jameson to feel the different textures, but he wasn't all that interested.

But yesterday, as soon as I picked up that book, he grabbed the fur on the puppy on front, squealed and petted it. Every page he immediately saw the new texture and felt it, and then would grab the book and turn back to the front to pet the puppy. He definitely "got" what the book was all about, and loved it. It is just so amazing to see how quickly he figures out so many new things. I can't wait to see what he learns next!

Cousins!

Ben and U-Ann have moved to Phoenix, and they came down to visit on Friday. It was Ariadne's birthday so I gave her some playdough. The kids played with it each in their own way. Isaiah took a knife and cut it into pieces, Ariadne squished it and showed it to all of us, and Jameson just watched them and tried to eat the playdough.

Ariadne wanted to get into the bouncer. She's too big for it, but she liked seeing new toys.

We went to dinner, and Ariadne was a little unsure of what was going on. What was bothering her so?

Jameson was getting Mommy attention, and eating her crackers!

A lot of my boxes from childhood came down with them, and some of our old toys were in there. It was so sweet to see the kids playing with our old duplos. Jameson was very thrilled with his new toys.

But of course he really wanted to see what Isaiah was doing!

A Good Birthday

Jameson gave me two great birthday presents yesterday. He stayed at Grandma's so Nathan and I could go to dinner, and when we picked him they asked how long he'd been sitting up on his own! He showed me how he does this new trick, by crawling and then rolling onto his bottom. He hasn't done it today, but it's neat to know he can sit up.

Then, as we sat and talked, Jameson sat there and carefully put some plastic rings in a bucket, then dumped it out, then put them back, over and over. He's really starting to figure things out and show so much intelligence. It was the best birthday, seeing how much he is growing!
