Happy Halloween

We went down to the main police station for Nathan to get some new gear, and showed Jameson to all the workers. He was a big hit. The ladies at supply noticed that he talk just as much as his dad, and it was threatened that he might be taken into evidence. They gave us a badge sticker, and we decided to play dress up at home.

He really enjoys his jumper, and Jasmine thinks it's pretty neat too. She hasn't tried to play with it yet, but it's great for sleeping under.

And I made a dragon for Jameson. He likes it because there are a lot of little parts to hold on to. I think I'm going to have to reinforce the stitching!

A New Toy

Jameson has been a happy baby the last few days. He loves playing with his blankie, but I decided to make him a new toy.

First I found some old yarn that was going to be a blanket and asked him if he liked it. He did.

Then I crocheted the body. He approved.

And then I added the details. It was supposed to be a polar bear, but it looks more like a panda.

He seems to like it. I made him some more socks too.

Now he has two toys to play with. Panda and blanket.

And some wonderful talking.

I've also got to show off the sweater that I just finished. I started this about two weeks before Jameson was born, just to keep myself occupied. I've been working on it ever since, and honestly I'm shocked it got done so quickly. It just needs buttons.

This picture shows the true color. It's too small, but it will fit a lot better when my body is no longer supporting another life. ;)

It's Official

We're parents. The baby didn't convince me. The diapers, the tiny clothes, the spit-up and crying didn't convince me. But this makes it real:

We have a giant plastic jungle gym type thing in our living room. I wanted to get a doorway bouncer, but after looking at them, I realized they would not fit on any of our doorways. So he gets a stationary bouncer. He can bounce and spin in the seat, but for now he's just working on staying upright. He seems to like it. There is a mirror that takes him by surprise every time.

As for those benchmarks from yesterday, here's something to show how well he can turn towards my voice. Hilarious.

His First Quarter

Jameson is now three months old. Or a year old, depending on how you think about it.

By three months, your baby should be able to:

On stomach, left head up to 45 degrees

By three months, your baby will probably be able to:

Laugh out loud

On stomach, lift head up 90 degrees

Squeal in delight

Bring both hands together

Smile spontaneously -

Follow an object 180 degrees

By three months, your baby may be able to:

Hold head steady when upright -

On stomach, raise chest, supported by arms - Sorry, no picture, because he's not quite there yet. He props up on his elbows easily, but he's not all the way up on his hands.

Roll over - No picture here either, but he can do it! He rolls from stomach to back (he loves rolling off my chest to the bed) and from his side to either front or back. Just today he started rolling from stomach to side, then back to his stomach.

Grasp a rattle held to backs or tips of fingers - Not really. He closes his hands onto toys, but drops them very quickly. He does hold on to our fingers for a long time, however!

Pay attention to an object as small as a raisin

By three months, your baby may even be able to:

Bear some weight on legs when held upright

Reach for an object

Keep head level with body when pulled to sitting - He's getting better at this, but his head still flops back most of the time.

Turn in the direction of a voice, particularly mommy's - Sometimes. But I typically have to be in his line of sight before he'll notice me.

Say "ah-goo" or similar vowel-consonant combination - He's talking more and more, and even mimicking us. Eventually I'll catch this on video!

Razz - He's blown bubbles a few times, but not too often.

DITL

That's "Day In The Life" in bulletin board speak. I took a bunch of pictures of Jameson's day to give you an idea of what we do.

7 am: Wake up in crib, cry to wake up mommy, nurse in bed and fall back asleep

7:30 am: Back in the crib

10:30 am: Breakfast in bed, but he's not falling back asleep this time. There's so much to see and do!

11:00: Hang out in the crib, conversing with the bugs flying around and around and around

11:30: Play time with Mommy. He loves to fly through the air, and I get a great ab workout!

12:30: Wah! I'm a baby and I'm tired but I don't know how to relax so I'm gonna scream!

12:45: zzzzzzzz

2:00: Hanging out with Dad

2:30: Reading with Mom. He loves the pictures of animals and when I make animal noises.

5:00: Bath time, getting ready to head out to dinner to celebrate Adina's birthday at Texas Roadhouse.

6:00: Asleep from the car ride.

7:00: It took awhile to get seated, and Jameson liked the menu.

7:05: Judy stole him from me, since I get to hold him all the time.

7:10: Adina stole him next, since it was her birthday after all. Matt thought it would be funny to take a picture of me taking a picture of him. He's proud of his new iPhone.

7:20: Transfered to Jennifer

7:25: Now Sarah. Steve liked talking with him.

7:45: This is talent. Steve has got Jameson to sleep, and he is able to keep eating. This guy is ready to be a dad.

8:30: Back home

9:20: Playing in bed

9:45: More conversations with the bugs

And he was asleep by 10:30. And that's a day in the life of Jameson

Today: Playing with a blanket. Those are his favorite toys now!

We headed up to Catalina for cousin Caiya's third birthday. He was fussy, but all the aunts don't mind. Aunt Liz was able to keep him happy for quite awhile.

He got a lot of attention. Caiya wanted to hold "her" and didn't want him to look at anyone else. (I think she thinks he was a doll!) Leah and Caiya sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to him, and he loved it.

Aunt Leah knows how to make him smile!

He started to get tired when Denia took him outside.

Caiya loved her pinata. Next year Jameson will be old enough to dive for the candy as well!
