Jameson's First Car Accident

Jameson and I had a grand adventure on New Years Eve. We were attempting to go to the store, but we got a little sidetracked. As we were driving through the neighborhood, a woman in her parked SUV opened her door and hit my car as I was driving by. I didn't see the door at all, so I was very frightened by the sudden crunching sound. I'm sure Jameson was surprised (and he probably saw the whole thing!) but he didn't cry.

He was a very good boy, but very confused. There was a lot of damage done to the passenger side of the car, but we are both fine. I'm so glad that the windows didn't break all over Jameson!

The SUV door took off my mirror (I found it laying back by her before I came around to check the damage -- I was very confused!)

It also ripped up the handle. The door still latches and locks, thank goodness!

And just for good measure, some dents on the rear door.

This is a shot of the front of the car. Notice that it's not damaged at all? I really hope this will help convince the insurance that I did not hit a door that was already open -- the door was opened into my car.

Here you can see the door of the other car. It's clearly bent inward, as if she slammed into something. If I had ran into it, it would be bent the other way. The deputy came to the same conclusion, and cited her for opening her door into traffic, but the driver is still contesting everything. Which means if we want this to be fixed now, we have to file it under our insurance.

This obviously wasn't a bad wreck. Jameson took it all in stride, acting as if sitting on the sidewalk for an hour is a normal occurrence. He was very nice to the people in the other car. He offered them his cheerios. He's such a nice boy.
